This week I am celebrating my 35th birthday which comes on the tail end of last week where I celebrated 11 years of sobriety.
This was a learning year and while these are never the “easiest” I’ve had them before and know they are launching pads for so much good to come!
Here are 6 takeaways from this past year…
- Cybersickness is a real thing.
The lovely phenomenon of being seasick on land after overexposure to zoom meetings and screen time. Quick article with some great tips in here that are actually useful https://www.realsimple.com/health/mind-mood/cybersickness
2. Isopropyl Alcohol is like dry shampoo for clothes.
It’s an old broadway trick I learned years ago and remembered last spring when COVID lockdown went into effect. 2/3 alcohol and 1/3 water and spray the armpits of your favorite sweater:) Or anything that needs a freshen up but you don’t want to send to the dry cleaner just yet.
3. Situational Awareness is Key
Understanding the moment can help to put things into context and make things feel less overwhelming.
4. Mindfulness = Amazingness
I’ve never appreciated this practice more than I have this past year. Being able to observe the way I was feeling without judging it, gave me space to decide how I wanted to react each situation as it arose.
5. Admire the Little Things
When the world feels upside down, it’s the small everyday rituals, like that first cup of coffee that can bring us right back into the moment.
6. Slow Downs Can Fast-Track Progress
What would normally take years, took months in 2020. Remember that going forward!
